A custom WooCommerce product catalog for construction machinery
A custom WordPress and WooCommerce catalog for Iron Toys — a Slovenian supplier of compact construction machinery, built to generate inquiries, present machines clearly, and support expansion across the EU market.
WooCommerce product catalog built for machinery inquiries
Iron Toys needed more than a standard website. The goal was to create a professional product catalog for compact construction machinery that could clearly present mini excavators, mini dumpers, attachments, pricing, stock information, technical details, and after-sales support.
The website was built from scratch on WordPress and WooCommerce. Instead of using WooCommerce as a traditional online store with cart and payment, the platform was adapted into a catalog and inquiry-based system. This was important because Iron Toys sells higher-value machinery where customers often need advice, multiple products, attachments, transport information, or additional consultation before purchase.
A key part of the project was simplifying the inquiry process. Visitors needed to be able to send inquiries for several machines and attachments at once, without having to manually copy product names or fill out separate forms for each item. To support this, we extended Contact Form 7 functionality and adapted the inquiry flow around the way customers actually choose construction machinery.
The website also needed to feel robust, practical, and trustworthy. In this market, customers are not only looking for the lowest price. They want clear product information, confidence in availability, transparent pricing, reliable service, warranty support, and access to spare parts. The website had to communicate all of this quickly and clearly.
The result is a professional WooCommerce-powered product catalog that helps Iron Toys present its machinery more effectively, generate qualified inquiries, and support long-term growth across Slovenia and the wider EU market.
The challenge
The main challenge was to build a catalog experience that works differently from a standard eCommerce store. Iron Toys did not need online payments or a simple one-product checkout flow. The business needed a practical inquiry system that allows potential buyers to explore multiple machines and attachments, then contact the company with a clear request.
Construction machinery purchases are usually more considered than everyday online purchases. Buyers may compare models, ask about attachments, check whether a machine is in stock, confirm pricing with VAT, and request advice before making a decision. Because of this, the website needed to guide visitors toward inquiry instead of forcing them into a traditional cart and checkout experience.
Another important challenge was trust. Machines, attachments, servicing, warranty, and spare parts all needed to be presented in a way that makes the company feel reliable and professional. The website had to support both product discovery and credibility.
Multilingual structure was also important. Iron Toys is a Slovenian company, but the business is positioned for the wider EU market. The website was therefore built with a multisite multilingual setup, allowing the brand to serve different language versions and support expansion beyond Slovenia.
Project goals
The main goal was to create a professional product catalog that helps Iron Toys generate more relevant inquiries and present its offer clearly.
The website needed to make it easy for customers to browse mini excavators, mini dumpers, and attachments, understand the key product information, see prices with a VAT note, and contact the company when they are interested.
Another goal was to give the Iron Toys team an easy way to manage products, prices, discounts, technical specifications, images, stock-related information, and content sections. Since the product range can grow over time, the website needed a structure that is easy to expand.
The project also needed to support SEO and local visibility. Products such as mini excavators and mini dumpers are highly search-driven, so the website needed a better foundation for organic traffic, product category visibility, and future optimization.
Finally, the site needed to feel professional, industrial, practical, and sales-focused. The design and development approach had to make the offer clear, the products easy to explore, and the inquiry process simple.
The solution
We developed Iron Toys as a WordPress and WooCommerce website using a combination of prepared design direction, custom design improvements, theme builder functionality, and custom development.
WooCommerce was used as the product management foundation, but the store was adapted into an inquiry-focused catalog. This allowed Iron Toys to manage machines and attachments like products while avoiding a traditional payment-based checkout flow.
We implemented product pages and category structures that support clear presentation of machinery and attachments. Product information can be managed through structured fields, making it easier for the team to update specifications, prices, product images, and related details.
One of the most important custom solutions was the inquiry functionality. We extended Contact Form 7 to support inquiries for multiple machines and attachments at once. This creates a more practical experience for customers and a better workflow for the Iron Toys team, because inquiries arrive with clearer product context.
The website includes price display with VAT notes, custom homepage sections, product catalog navigation, multilingual setup through multisite, SEO setup, and performance optimization.
The frontend was built with mobile users in mind. Many visitors may browse machines on their phone while working, comparing equipment, or discussing options on-site. The mobile experience therefore needed to remain clear, fast, and easy to use.
